Dr S Rajagopalan, Former Professor and Dean, Faculty of Education, Annamalai University, has been associated with ELTAI right from its inception. He served also as its President from 1985 to 2010 He had been a member of a number of Academic bodies in several Indian universities - has undergone training, as a British Council scholar, in the teaching of English as a foreign language at the London University Institute of Education -has considerable teaching and research experience to his credit .- has guided M.Phil and Ph.D scholars in ELT as well as other areas of Education- Areas of interest: ELT: Teacher Education and Development and CALL
Amol Padwad, who took over the presidentship of ELTAI in July, 2010, holds a master's degrees in English and Russian. He has other degrees to his credit like M.Phil (English), LL.B and PGDTE (CIEFL). He also did M.Ed. (TESOL) from University of Leeds, UK on the Hornby Trust scholarship. Currently the head of the Postgraduate Department of English at J. M. Patel College, Bhandara (Maharashtra), he was amoderator of ELTeCS- India (the regional electronic network of ELT professionals, promoted by the British Council) for a number of years.
Dr K Elango, Professor of English, Anna University, Chennai - has served as a Faculty member at the Assumption University, Bangkok, for three years - actively engaged in ELT research - presented papers at national and international conferences - conducted teacher education programmes for secondary school and college teachers - current areas of interest are: reading and approaches to second language teaching and learning.
Dr.S. Dawood Shah, He is the Principal of the Crescent School, an International Residential School at Vandalur, Chennai. A post graduate in English and a Doctorate in Education, he is the recipient of many awards including the Best Teacher Award from the Govt. of Tamilnadu and the International School Award from the British Council. Undergone training in RIE, Bangalore, attended several courses and workshops organised by the British Council and organised many workshops and conferences. Also widely travelled abroad.
P R Kesavulu, Retired Principal of Jaya Matriculation higher Secondary School, Chennai - has undergone training at both the Central Institute of English and other Foreign Languages, Hyderabad and the Regional Institute of English, Bangalore - taught English at the higher secondary level for several years - currently engaged in conducting teacher education programmes for Matriculation school teachers in Tamilnadu.
Dr D Raja Ganesan, Former Professor and Head, Department of Education, University of Madras - Member(nominated by the Government of India), Central institute of English and other Foreign Languages, Hyderabad, Indian Council of Philosophical Research, Programme Advisory Committee of the National Council for Teacher Education and Curriculum Development Committee for Education of the University Grants Commission and Secretary. Dr. Sheth Dharmendra, Surat An engineer turned teacher, Dr Sheth has worked with many educational institutions of repute which include the department of English, VNSG University, Surat and Wadia Women's College, Surat. Since earning his PhD from VNSG University in 2006, he has worked as a teacher trainer at a number of seminars and workshops across India. He has attended and presented papers at various national and international conferences which include TESOL, Seattle, USA. He works as a freelance corporate trainer and content developer.
His areas of interest include Phonetics and Spoken English, Listening, Networking and Professional Development.
Dr V Saraswathi, Retd. Professor of English, university of Madras - Currently the Editor of "The Journal of English Language Teaching" published by the ELTAI. Areas of special interest are Teacher Development, Materials Production and Testing - Author of nearly 50 coursebooks at various levels - has guided a number of research scholars in their Ph.D. work - was a member of Projects APT and BCD - served as an expert at the Teleconference for Teachers in English organised by the British Council, Chennai - worked as a resource person at the Hornby Summer School 2002 at Lonavla - has attended and presented papers at the RELC Annual Conference at Singapore.
Dr. K.S.Antony Samy, M.A., M. Phil., M.Ed., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of English at Loyola College, Chennai. He has twenty years of teaching experience at Loyola College. In addition, he is the Associate Faculty of Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA). English Language Teaching (ELT) is his area of research.
